In Memoriam: Donald Lee Kellmeyer (1932 – 2010)

Donald Lee Kellmeyer, (1932 – 2010) 77, of Swansea, Ill., (father of Life & Liberty’s own resident theologian, Steve Kellmeyer,) died Thursday April 29, 2010, at home, surrounded by his family.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He was an active member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic School Father’s Club and Althoff Catholic High School Father’s Club. He loved fishing, listening to Cardinals baseball games, and arguing politics, but he enjoyed spending time with his family the most. He held a special place in his heart for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Kellmeyer; his mother, Ruby, nee Middleton, Kellmeyer; his sister, Delores Sturgis; and his aunt, Marie Kellmeyer.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Mary Reeb Kellmeyer of Swansea, Ill.; his eight sons and daughters, Emma Kellmeyer of Belleville, Ill., John Kellmeyer of Swansea, Ill., Mary (Jim) Dahm of Belleville, Ill., Steve (Veronica) Kellmeyer of Plano, Texas, Joe (Cheryl) Kellmeyer of Swansea, Ill., Patrick Kellmeyer of Swansea, Ill., Lisa (Robert) Kistler of Naperville, Ill., and Nicholas (Cara) Kellmeyer of St. Louis, Mo.; his grandchildren, Jamie (Nathan) Rakers, Michael Dahm, Andrew Dahm, Jonathan Dahm, Katherine Kellmeyer, Gregory Kellmeyer, David Kellmeyer, Benjamin Kellmeyer, Alex Kellmeyer, Michael Kellmeyer, Daniel Kellmeyer, Tori Kellmeyer, Tom Kistler, Jake Kistler, Grace Kistler, Clare Kellmeyer, Mark Kellmeyer, and Sam Kellmeyer; his great-grandchildren, Katelyn Rakers and Shane Rakers; his brother, Robert Kellmeyer of Belleville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Father John Myler officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
